Review: Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Perhaps the most unusual of all the T-rated flicks out there, Di and Do have hidden this away from my juvenile eyes for far too long. Well, apparently HBO didn't know about my restriction and aired it during an ideal recording time. So, yes, I've seen it. And even after one viewing, I'm smitten. With T-movie veterans Nicolas Cage and Eric Stoltz in severely minor roles, this '90s movie based on Cameron Crowe's venture to a Southern California high school hits all the right notes. With witty characters, chick-flick quality, and a story that you won't forget, I am in T-movie heaven. So please, Di and Do, no more hiding movies from Daphne. It just makes me work twice as hard to see them ;)

Review: Mamma Mia!

We waited SO long to see this movie musical that, with all our conflicting schedules, we barely caught it in theaters. We were also lucky enough to have choice seating in a sing-along viewing, which I know I heard at least Dianna take advantage of. But what of the movie we waited so long to see? Well, it was pretty twin-tastic. Set on a small island in Greece, it follows the story of Sophie, who's been raised by her fabulous ex-stage show mother running a very empty inn. Sophie's getting married and dreams of her MIA father giving her away during the ceremony. So she finds her mother's old diary and narrows it down to three choices, all of which she invites to the wedding under her mother's nose. Is this movie cheesy, ridiculous, and over-dramatic? Yes. But it's also fabulous and contains some very close-to-home senarios and characters. Besides, who doesn't love ABBA? Cute and cuddily, but should not be viewed by ANY straight man who likes James Bond. It just ruins the image.

Hopelessly devoted to... Grease!!!!

No summer would be complete without our annual ritual of a Grease screening on the chilly but fab Santa Monica pier!!!! Unfortunately, none of the regulars could join Donna and I, but we had a blast anyway, belting out tunes like we were Sandy and Danny themselves!!!! The seating was ideal, the picture quality was fine, and the kettle corn booth was in full function to add to the awesomeness of the experience. Nothing like straining your voice (and hips) to Greased Lighting in the freezing ocean air!!! We hope that Di, V, and J will be able to appear next year. Although I'm not sure if the west side would be ready for that amount of fabulousness... All in all, it was amazing!!!! IT'S THE ONE THAT WE WANT!!!

Time to start again!!!!

Ok, summer break is over! It's time to keep the blog going! There have been an influx of summer twin flix we STILL have to see and report on! Plus, we haven't even gone over the Grease night OR the AFI list yet. We've got to get back in!!!

And on a different note- blogger2blogger props from Daphne to Perez Hilton!!! Seriously, the dude is incredible!!!!! He's filled me in on EVERY scoop and made my summer a lot more interesting. Plus, he made an appearance on one of Daphne's favorite TV shows. We should aspire to be at his level. Love you, Perez!!!
