Just because...

TOO FAB NOT TO POST!!!!!

A little late, but still....

Halloween '09 still deserves documentation! Although not as exciting as I had hoped (last minute cancellation... drat!) the 'rents had a grand old time as we once again paraded the streets of West Hollywood to merge with those just as enthusiastic about dressing up as we were. My father reprized his legendary role as "Scary"King while I opted for the much more sensual Jessica Rabbit. My mother. the maverick, went as some sort of ghoul-witch that, despite some doubt, turned out very eerie. It was a fun night with some great sights and even a special TV spot for my all-too-willing father! So let's take down the pumpkins and retire the Jack-O-Lantern; Thanksgiving is coming up fast and we need to strategize and prepare in every way possible!

It's Official: The Twins are Rockers!

On the road again, the twins took Cleveland by storm, where all that is rock and roll comes together: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and yet another fabulous Bruce Concert. Other crazed fans converged as well--a concert and a retrospective at the HOF...what real fan could pass it up! And as expected, Hall of Famers took one look at the twins, and immediately inducted them...unfortunately their resumes were a bit light for a dedicated exhibit space. Let's review 2 key credentials: the subject matter expertise in all that is Bruce Springsteen, and the uncontested courage and willingness to break into song and dance regardless of location and quality of the song (as long as it's got a good beat and easy to dance to...). Although the D and D argued their case...the only case they left with was a small plastic guitar case with a t shirt, a couple of buttons, a lunch bag, and unlimited admission for the next 12 months. Fabulous photo includes Vancouver twin favorite Mo who joined in the festivities. Tramps like us...baby we were born to run!

Halloween + Almost Full Moon = Ali Babba and the Cowboy

This Halloween equation perfectly sums up a monster mish/mash celebration at Do's. Bonfire, pizza, and kettle corn (sorry lil' D, we didn't save you any...kind of a debacle if you know what I mean!); add in fabulous neighbors, miscellaneous board members and a 2 year old monkey with a banana in her pocket who thought the party was in her honor (and honestly, it kind of turned out to be)--well that basically encapsulates Halloween 2009. Great fun and a narrow escape from diving head first into a vortex of pizza and artichoke dip (phew!), basically another grand recipe for top rated twinflix entertainment. Wish you could have been there Daphne!

Hamilton Homecoming 2009!!!

Sorry this debrief is so late, but little D has been too preoccupied with Halloween to notice much else. However, a pre-Halloween event that should definitely not be overlooked was the Homecoming dance attended by me and my BFFF Serena! All dressed up with somewhere to go, we ruled the school as we danced all night, from 8 to midnight, a display that would have made Di and Do weep with pride. It was all a blast, from the hair-and-makeup prep show to the dance to the post boogie-down In-N-Out run (fun fact: most In-N-Outs are open until midnight or later). Would have having a date made the night more fun? Of course not! It was just a girls night out with great results. So thanks to Serena for coming along! I hope this will not be out last!

Ricahrd Simmons Adventure- Part 2

Ok, so maybe the second installment of what seems to be an ongoing series was not as successful as the first time around. Richard was much more hands-on (which is not something to be appreciated when sweating that much)and about 1/2 the class was taught by the other teachers. It's one thing to be working out with a slightly frail 60-70 something year old man. It's quite another to have his much-fitter-than-thou trainers up there. Still, it was all in good fun and Richard played tons of records while threatening to lock us in and play Anne Frank. Besides, after the painful procedures of sit-ups and choriographed aerobics, there was a delicious Pavillions lunch and a trip to TX in store for Do. So how was the return to Richard Simmonsville? Not bad, although now we have better expectations of what a regular class is like.

The Richard Simmons Adventure!!!!

Thanks must be paid to the twins' super-diva BFF Victoria for coming up with such a fabulous birthday idea!!! True, it was not the twins' birthday, nor mine, but we felt like it was as we spent one amazing hour (or so) doing aerobics with the incredible Richard Simmons! The party arrived to the studio that morning in (of course) our best 80s wear and Richard was just thrilled to bits! He took special notice of Di and Do (dressed exacly alike), so they may have been Richard's favorites, to the jealousy of everyone else. As a special treat, Richard played all 80s music during our workout and there were even beauty queen tears in our eyes when Bruce's "Dancing in the Dark" came on. Plus, at the end of the class, even though all of Victoria's guests (and there were at least 40) were sweaty hot messes, Richard took a bunch of pictures with us, both in a group and individual. These picture are just so FAB that of course we had to post all three along with the review, and Richard even gave twin elite follower Roger a run for his money! But we must thank Victoria for inviting all three of us to her super amazing birthday party!!!! We hope she had a great one because we know we did!

John Hughes, RIP August 6, 2009

Devastating news to the Twinflix team as John Hughes is most likely the first Director to make the Hall of Fame (will vote on this soon). Certainly there is much supporting evidence for his candidacy--mainly a tri-fecta of favorites that includes: Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, and Some Kind of Wonderful (producer & writer credit--not director). Twinflix trivia: John Hughes plays Brian's father in the car scene from "The Breakfast Club" (totally Brill!).

We will miss you!

Review- 500 Days of Summer

The beginning of this cute little film says it all- "this is a boy-meets-girl story, but it is not a love story". And indeed it isn't a love story, but it is ridiculously cute and quirky regardless. A total Daphne favorite Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Tom, a dreamer and a hopeless romantic who falls in love almost instantly with Summer, a perky little drifter who lives life solely how she wants to. As Tom and Summer grow closer and closer, he starts falling more and more as she slowly dips in and out of love with him, finally cutting him out of her romantic life completely. However, Tom is not ready to give up, ignoring advice from his two best friends and his wise-beyond-her-years little sister. This movie, told out of order throughout every part of their entire relationship, is about love and fate. Zooey Dechanel plays the same role yet again, the quirky girl with dreams in her eyes, while Levitt plays the most sympathetic character, and I myself found it too easy not to like Summer, even though Tom was head-over-heels for her. Still, this is definitely worth a look and has some very funny and sweet scenes thrown in at just the right moments. I was definitely glad I saw it.

Review- The Proposal

My apologies to Di and Do for jumping the gun and seeing this T-flick before we all had the chance to get together!!!! However, this movie choice was not up to me, since I was with my bfff Serena and her comrades in arms at the time. No matter, this piece of twin cinema still deserves a blog review. It stars Hollywood Hunk (and hubby to Scarlett Johansson) Ryan Reynolds as the ever-present and totally over-worked assistant to Sandra Bullock's pushy and headstrong editor-in chief Margret. When Margret faces deportation back to Toronto, she bribes Reynold's character Andrew to marry her just until her Visa is cleared. However, in order to get the Immigration Office investigator off their backs, Andrew and Margret fly up to Alaska, where they announce their engagement to his loving (if erratic) family and attempt to learn more about each other to pass a government test of authenticity (a sub-plot, something not important in the story). This film is just like all others of its kind- the plot is predictable, not all the jokes are laughable, and it touches that warm place in your heart in the same way as a cute kitten or a thoughtful card. But Sandra Bullock has been a twin favorite since Miss Congeniality and Ryan Reynolds is definitely to be considered a new twin favorite (especially after a very comical and extremely attractive shower mix-up scene). It is worth a run to Di's beloved Blockbuster for a twin-night-in, but is it worth $13.50 at a local theater? Not really

Viva la Espana!

Little D has yet again broadened her horizons by becoming even more of an international traveler! This summer was marked for me by a two week venture to SPAIN at the beginning of the month. It was the first time I was over boarders minus the 'rents (although I think it worried my mother a whole lot more than it worried me) but I still had a blast as me and 13 of my fellow students joined other USA kids on a grand tour of Spain's marvelous Eastern regions. From Madrid to Seville, from Granada to San Sebastian, from Bilbao to Burgos, the whole journey was just a non stop adventure! There were even day trips taken to other countries (and continents!) as me and my peers journeyed to France and Morocco. The entire trip was too fabulous and too beautiful for words, but that it why I have over 400 pictures to describe what I simply can not. If ever I had the chance, I would definitely return, to spend time on the Mediterranean beaches of Costa del Sol and the ever-hustling cities of Barcelona and Pamploma. I couldn't have had a more fabulous vacation- Spain is certainly an experience everyone should have the chance to have!

FAB vacay weekend!!!!

Who doesn't love extended family? These last four days have been made especially fun by the visit of our Phoenix family, Rose and Amy. Amy, the original niece before yours truly came along, was recruited to look after me while her mother, my parents, Di, and Do threw their hips out at an especially rockin' Eric Clapton concert. Even so, the trip began Saturday, as we all met up in Santa Monica for a very delicious Mexican dinner (after both our original plans fell to error- oops). Sunday followed up with a trip to a spectacular succulent gardening shop (Di, my father, and I opted out) followed by a yummy BBQ at Do's. Monday consisted of a tour of the stars home, which made it very clear that little D can not read a map for squat =(. Tuesday included a trip to the lovely Getty museum, followed by a night of partying (the siblings) and a girls nite in (the nieces). Overall, everyone had a blast, and we all wish 'Mary and Mis Me-Mo would drop in more often. It was so fun!!!!

Just a quick update...

With not long to go before my grand trip to Spain (!!!!!!), I thought I'd put in a little final request of the twins: a new blog report. There is new, in-the-flesh twin bait to report on! I was lucky enough to stumble upon this 26-yr-old gem when I took soccer my first semester of my new high school. He later went on to coach the award winning swim team, something that launched him in to consideration. But when it was discovered that he shared some twin music tenancies (and the fact that he's kind of a babe), he was instantly voted in. I'm lucky I won't have him anymore, otherwise the twins would be showing up at every open house and conference night scheduled (and even a few unscheduled...). Hopefully, Mr. B does't catch on to his new admirers- his girlfriend might get jealous!

Professional acquisition for Daphne

Per usual the A-team continues to amass rock goddess products for our teen protege--little D.  As all rock professionals know, Joe Perry of Aerosmith (right) needs a little support on the road.  Mo's man Jim (on the left) is at the ready, keeping all the guitars and equipment in order --available at a moment's notice.  A true professional, Mo scored a pink tee--teen size--totally brill to continue to provide conversation fodder for our girl at Hamilton High. You are the cool girl, little D-- don't forget it. Baby you are BORN TO RUUUUUN!!!!

Just Because...

More Evidence

Am I the only one working here?! Ok, more evidence about CD.....How do you steal the thunder from Julia R? JR is another conversation, much to mull over there, but My Best Friend's Wedding is typical T-Flick fodder, and I'd bet that (much) older sis Deb has secretly had this one on her route. What do we love about MBFW?....the confidante (Rupert is totally brill), karaoke (I recall a night at Sam's with my bff Amy and a strange chinese guy singing Hey Jude), the scheming gone bad (stealing a bread truck AND the unwatchable forged letter sequence...brutal) and again, total T-flick criteria..all works out where friends are still friends, yet move on and find love AND lifelong friendship AND dancing. Is there MORE? Don't think so!

Cameron AND Julia....where are my people? Will you weigh in PLEASE?

Back to work...

I'm not ready to leave the Bruuuuuce events behind, but we've got to get back to the business of chronicling T-rated entertainment! However, if there are any final thoughts about the night Daphne converted to a true fan of engaging in a trip to "The Promised Land" there's no time limit for posting.....
So, I propose we turn our energy toward adding new inductees to our T-Hall of Fame. There are many possible candidates--from old movies and new ones. I'm going to propose one. Cameron Diaz. Evidence for Ms. Diaz...The Holiday, In Her Shoes, What Happens In Vegas (saw this one on cable...Ashton Kutchner...he's another one that has T-Hall of Famer potential in the future), The Sweetest Thing (although never reviewed...I really liked it...I realize I may be alone in this one and kind of embarrassed about it...but I did, really like it), My Best Friend's Wedding, She's the One.....do I go on? Discuss amongst yourselves. Others?

Rosalita Came out Tonight!

Ladies and gentlemen---TwinFlix bloggers experienced front and center... the HEARTSTOPPING - FUN LOVING - HARD ROCKING -BOOTY SHAKING - LOVE MAKING - HISTORY MAKING - LEGENDARY E STREET BAND!! All pit strategies and good karma paid off..bloggers shared a night stocked with lifelong memories. It's going to take a day or two more to get back to reality....and for the twins to get back on their feet--life in the pit isn't as easy to bounce back from as it used to be. A couple more doses of ibuprofen should do the trick!

Twin B-day Party:a smashing success!!!

The girls have done it again; their Sunday brunch birthday blow-out was a complete hit! Everyone munched on yummy treats while battling the winds next to Do's still all-too-fabulous pool. Gigi even made a special appearance, direct from Phoenix, AZ, to commemorate the occasion. The twins stumped us all with their "Which Twin Was It?" quiz, which had us locked in fierce competition with five finalists! (One of which, surprisingly, was my dear old dad). Victoria, of course, took home the prize, while Mark's mother Ruth was given a special consolation prize, one which she refused to let go of. Many Twin fans were present, including neighbors Shaun and Myra, Arizona native Steve Anna, and new addition Roy, who will hopefully be returning some time soon. The entire afternoon was too fab for words. The twins have proved themselves, once again, to be the all-star hostesses with the excellent cheese-and-egg souffle.

Review: Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants

Di has a little bit of catching up to do... Do and I agree- Sisterhood is absolutely fabulous! Four friends, best friends since childhood (much like the twins and some of their comrades) find a magical pair of jeans that fit them all perfectly. Since the girls will all be separated for the first time over the summer, they decide to share the pants, sending them from girl to girl, along with long letters describing their experiences. Over the weeks, the pants help each girl find the support and strength they need to get through some of the most difficult times of their lives. This movie, first discovered by yours truly and her mother, is a soon-to-be favorite, a funny feel-good that also has us diving for the Kleenex and giving each other horrified, misty-eyed glances. Di, an intervention has to be held- there is no way you can pass up this flick.
